The course of a root canal treatment:
A root canal treatment becomes necessary when a cankerous or
devitalized tooth has to be preserved. AIm of the treatment is
to remove the bacteria in the tooth resulting from the infection
. Furthermore the tooth has to be closed in such a way that no
new bacteria can enter and reinfect it.
As the root canal system of the tooth –similar to a tree-
is composed of many tiny ramifications (up to 0,06 mm !), one needs
a microscope to visualize them. This techniques and the flexible
and microfine instruments approbriate enough allow for an ideal
preparation to remove the bacteria and infectes tissue. Thus the
chances for a successful treatment are enhanced hightend. The final
removal is done with the help of a irrigation. What follows is
a suitable preparation of the root canals with highly elastical
files acting as the completing preparation for filling the root
canal system. The material used for doing so is “guttapercha”,
related to natural rubber. Guttapercha is healened and combined
wih an adhesive cement filled into the canal system now prepared
ideally. Your local dentist id thus enabled to treat the tooth
in question.
